Dear Book Blogger…

Dear Book Blogger,

I know you put an incredible amount of time and pride into what you do and this role is often a thankless one in the industry. So I just wanted to take a moment today and say THANK YOU.

Dear Book Blogger,

Thank you for the respect you give authors when you leave a less than desirable review. We know you don’t like doing it just as much as we don’t like reading it. But it reminds us that books and creativity are all subjective. Imagine how frustratingly boring life would be if we all loved the exact same thing. Our words can be polarizing and draw out a spectrum of reactions. And that’s a beautiful thing.

Dear Book Blogger,

Thank you for taking a chance on a debut no name author. All of the greats started somewhere and got to where they are with your support. Anytime you pick up a debut novel and like what you read, you have the power to help bring them to the next level.

Dear Book Blogger,

Thank you for the truth and insight you give to readers looking for their next literary fix. While a particular book may not have been for you, you understand there is someone in your audience it may touch.

Dear Book Blogger,

You are the master of coordination. You juggle ARCs, tours, giveaways, takeovers, write HTML and every behind-the-scenes detail in between. And for that, we thank you.

Dear Book Blogger,

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. You continually go above and beyond the call of duty. And you never cease to amaze us.

Dear Book Blogger,

Thank you for when you grapple with what to rate a book and give a review that shows respect and constructive criticism. Your thoughtful feedback pushes us to be better writers.

Dear Book Blogger,

Your friendship and guidance in this industry is so incredibly helpful. Your genuineness does not go unnoticed.

Dear Book Blogger,

Thank you for taking the time to answer questions. Be it via email, or Facebook Chat, or even in a parking garage during a signing. Your prior experiences and knowledge are invaluable, especially the the newer authors on the scene.

Dear Book Blogger,

If the writer is the heart of the book, then you, my dear, are the veins. Word of mouth is an incredibly powerful thing, and more often than not, it all starts with you. Thank you for tirelessly spreading the word about the books we write and introducing us to so many new readers who otherwise may not have heard of us.

Dear Book Blogger,

We all hate saying “no.” But we understand that you are just one person, one team, and you may not have the capacity or bandwidth to take on our book at any given time, no matter how much you may want to. There are so many hours in the day to read and review. And we understand those hours need to come after things like family, work and your personal sanity. Thank you for juggling it all to make room for us.

Dear Book Blogger,

Thank you for reading our words and believing in us when sometimes we don’t believe in ourselves. Knowing we have a cheerleader in our corner means so much more than you could ever begin to imagine.

Dear Book Blogger,

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Countless Indie Authors Everywhere
